According to the U.S. Census Bureau for the State of Illinois, there are approximately 213,465 children living in grandparent-headed households and yet another 75,362 children living in households headed by other relatives. Of these children living in households headed by grandparents or other relatives, an alarming 119,676 are in this living arrangement without the presence of either parent.
